Find a song in two ways
If the song is playing right now, press Listen to music and hold your device near the sound. HumFinder compares what it hears with the songs in its catalogue, and only a fingerprint of the sound leaves your device.
If the music has stopped, press Hum a tune and hum, whistle or sing the part you remember. You get a shortlist of the closest songs, and you can play each one to check.
Find a song by sound on any device
HumFinder is a web page, so it works on a phone, a tablet or a computer with a microphone. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
What this song finder knows
It can only find songs in its catalogue, which is growing and mostly holds independent releases for now. Most popular songs aren't in it yet. When it doesn't know a song, it tells you, instead of guessing a wrong one.
If your song isn't found
For a popular song, try the Google app, which can search by humming, or a recognition app like Shazam if the song is playing.
If you remember any words, search for them in quotation marks. If none of that works, people on r/NameThatSong and r/WhatsThisSong on Reddit are good at naming songs from a description or a recording.
